Often time can just get away from us. With all of life's challenges it's easy to sometimes overlook the most basic human needs that often go unmet in others. Downtown Jersey City is sort of a tale of two cities. There are those that have and simply those who don't. Why not help us bridge that gap? Are you looking for a meaningful way to volunteer in the Jersey City community? Can you carve out—and give—just two hours a week of your time to help someone less fortunate? Join the Riverside Cares volunteer team every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 as we open our doors to the community's less fortunate. There are several ways you can assist in the Riverside Cares Food bank (aka Helping Hands Food Bank)...
- Food pickup: Food is pre-ordered from a community food bank. Volunteers come in to pick up the food and then bring it back to Riverside Cares. This involves loading and unloading the truck and stocking the pantry.
- Van or Pick-up Drivers: We rent a U-Haul for food pickups. If you have a truck and would like to help transport the food, we would be most grateful!
- Baggers: Every Tuesday night just before we open the doors to the community, there is a team of volunteers who come out to bag food and hand them out to the families. More help is always welcome!
